Who are we?

Congratulations to the NY Giant on ending their 4 game losing streak with a walk-off FG by Lawrence Tynes in OT.  The new Giants passed for 384 yards on 39 attempts, and rushed 26 times for 88 yards.  Not what Giant fans would call “smash mouth” and add that to the fact that we even needed OT to beat the Falcons who were missing their two best running backs Michael Turner and Jerious Norwood gives rise to the question of how good or bad is the “09” version of the team.

Thursday evening we face the crashing Denver Broncos in another game we will win.  The Broncos who have given up almost 120 points in their 4 game skid were sacked 3 times, lost 2 fumbles, committed 9 penalties in their 32-3 whipping by the Chargers.

The Cinderella Broncos, now 0-Nov. apparently have had their carriage turn back in a pumpkin and prince Josh McDaniels (another poisoned fruit from the Belichick tree*) was nowhere to be found.

Short week, two time zones, no excuses.  The Cowboys, Packers, and Eagles all won; there are only three spots for four teams.  We are #4.

* Belichick tree- Eric Mangini, Charlie Weis, Romeo Crennel.

Giants Vs. Falcons Week 11

Hello Giants Fans,

The Giants beat the Atlanta Falcons in overtime today by the score of 34-31. The team seemed to play much better this week and the bye week rest seems to have done some good. Eli Manning had one of his best games of the season throwing for over 300 yards and 3 TD's. Kevin Boss also had a huge game catching 2 TD's and he kept the ball moving in a few crucial situations. All of the WR's seemed to be involved in the game and Brandon Jacobs made his way back into the endzone for a TD. The offensive line played better but Eli seemed to be pressured for most of the game.

The defense played well in the first half but seemed to lose steam in the second half. A couple of players got banged up including brandon Jacobs and Justin Tuck. Hopefully, they will be fine. Antonio Pierce was out and the rest of his season is in jeopardy. K Lawrence Tynes missed another FG today, what else is new? If he is on the team next season I would be in shock and awe. The Giants have a short week of practice to get in before the Thanksgiving Day game against Denver in Denver. Mr. Mara wasn't too happy about that and sent a formal letter to the NFL to voice his displeasure with the situation. We need this win against the Broncos to keep pace with the other playoff teams.

Is 7 more all we get?

It sure doesn’t seem like yesterday, October 11th, when they tee it up on Sunday it will have been six weeks.  That’s the last time the Giants won a game.  Coincidently it was the last time that the NFL served them a cupcake.  Coming out of the bye week and with both the Cowboys and Eagles getting beat while we vacationed and healed would seem like a fresh start.

In my mind this team is just not good enough to take advantage of last week’s gift.  We have not beaten a team that we can hold up as a quality win and the combined record of our opponents going forward is 37-26 and that includes the Redskins.

We are currently in play for a wildcard with a 5-4 record, and in a “tie” with the Eagles,  Falcons, and the Packers.  The Eagles have (besides a win over the NYG) a manageable schedule with games remaining against Chicago, the Redskins, 49ers, and Atlanta.

The Packers also have 4 winnable games against the Bears, Seahawks, Lions, and 49ers.

Atlanta has the IMO the most favorable schedule,  in addition to games against the Eagles and Giants, they also have two against the Buccaneers, the Jets and the Bills.

Short of a Cowboy collapse the best we can do is a wildcard and that may not be in the cards.

We may not have to face Michael Turner and his 800 yrds and 10 TDs rushing this week, which is a break.

Giants Bye Week

The New York Giants have a bye week this weekend. They will use the time to regroup and get healthy no doubt. Going 5-4 at this point was a surprise to many fans and it will take a lot to turn things around. The Giants will probably need to win 5 out of the 7 remaining games to make it back to the playoffs. they have some rough teams coming up including the Broncos, Falcons, Vikings, Eagles and Cowboys. At full strength, they could beat any of these teams. The coaches will need to review the play calling and those stepping in for injured players will really need to perform at a high level. It will be interesting to see how the G-Men rebound from losing 4 straight. I think they can make it back to the playoffs but it won't be easy. They play the Falcons next on November 22nd followed by the Thanksgiving game against Denver.
